Why we choose?

One of YSIK’s four strategic programs in 2008 is raising up limited public fund. This program is aimed to strengthen its endowment fund and to maintain sustainability of YSIK small grants for strategic initiatives development, due to some recent challenge and changes.
 

1. The tendency in human right violation (civil, politic and economic, social and culture) always has a very close relation with poverty. It always leads to an opportunity to human right violation, especially the marginal and powerless community. Therefore, it is needed to develop some empowerment programs for marginalized people, so that their rights are suficiently fulfiled, and to encourage the authority government to take full responsibility in overcoming this problem.
2. Donation schemes from donors organization have changed from their original mainstream. It restricts the access for community groups, basic community, and small NGOs which are informal and newly-grown, and having a very limited resources to get support for their programs. Moreover the gap is wider from time to time due to the demand of administrative procedures, lack of management in which these groups are considered to be ineffective and inefficient as well as giving no wide impact.
3. The new phylanthrophy method and the increasing involvement of the people in donating their money, is another change. Instead of just charitative, the people who donate their money prefer to give it for visionary empowerment, which means that prevention is far more important.

Why Small Grants?

Small grants often be forgotten even though it is needed to answer the dynamic local challenges. Small grant is having more flexibility in procedure, easily administered and immediate access. At least 150 proposals for small grant accepted per year by YSIK. This is the strength of this organization.

Why strengthening Endowment Fund ?
 
The primary reason is for the future’s sustainability. Sustainability requires big energy to move to be more anticipative, proactive and emphasizing on critical awareness. To concern on the prevention, it needs a vision and support by a strategic and sustainable fund rising.

Basic policy in using the fund

Endowment Fund may not decreases. Thus, the benefit that may be taken is only the invesment interest. If there is a need of program fund, maximum usage is only 15% from the total amount collected in a certain period of time, and operacional fund may not exeed 10%.gathered in certain range of time. Whereas for operational fund may not more than 10%. This policy will be periodically analized in accordance to the  situation and YSIK’s context of work.

Our expectation ?
 
All the collected funds will be managed under the name of Bladder of Humanity, an aspiration based on a tough humanity sense and devoted to the soul of the humanity. Term and condition of the usage of the Bladder of Humanity fund for strategic initiative is subject to the following vision and condition:

• Humanity with a purpose of giving small grant to empower as well as encourage the participation and involement of the general community or community groups who are affected by human right violation.
• Humanity that encourage strategic initiatives and inspire to prevent, protect, and  rehabilitate the victim of human right violence including violence toward women and children.
• Fair humanity in terms of fighting for justice based on the basic human right, especially on civil and political right, as well as economic,social and culture rights. In the other hand, continuos effort on pushing the state to take responsibility on prevention, protection, and rehabilitation of the human rights violation victims has to be encouraged.
• Compassionate humanity which care, anti-violation, and anti –discrimination in gender, etnic,belief/religión, groups and other distinguishment.
• Peaceful and safe humanity so that people feel secure and free from fear.

 
To What and Whom?

Small grant is aimed particularly to strengthen, maintain, and develop strategic initiatives in relation to develop and enforce human rights; prevention, protection, and handling based on the victims perspective. To those who have the same perspective, this small grant is dedicated.
Small grants can be accessed by:

• Society/group of human right violation victims.
• Individuals including initiator, advocate, human rights activist.
• Organization and their network that have the same vision and Basic value with YSIK
•  

Our Expectation…
In 2008 we expect to get fund as amount of 1 billion rupiah

When ?

The fund rising campaign on Pundi Insani in 2008 began on May 1, 2008, and will be continued up to December 10, 2008. The decisión in ending the campaign on the Labor Day, is to show our support to the humanity and victim.

Basic Strategy of Pundi Insani
To reach above targets, the activities are :

• Fund Rising for limited public by means of mass-based approach to support and develop good relationship with tose who donate their money.
• Accountability

Maximize the use of media to make the achievment of the objective of the fund rising more effective, so that the information, communication and responsibility as well as report can be fas, appropriate and easily accessed.

• Networking

Developing a network and dialoque forum on the fund rising.

• Partnership

Developing as well as maintaining the relationship with the small grants beneficiaries

• Monitoring and Evaluation

Encouraging the process of sustainable education.
